Wiregrass Tech Offers Beginner Guitar Camp for Young Musicians This Summer

The four-day camp on the Valdosta campus will teach ages 11–16 the fundamentals of guitar, July 13–16.

Young musicians in the Valdosta area have a chance to pick up a new skill this summer. Wiregrass Georgia Technical College will host a Guitar Summer Camp July 13–16 on its Valdosta Campus, giving beginners ages 11–16 a hands-on introduction to the instrument.

Led by instructor Dante Flowers, the four-day bootcamp is built for students who have never picked up a guitar as well as those looking to sharpen skills they already have. Campers will learn basic chords, technique, and musical fundamentals in what organizers describe as a supportive, encouraging setting.

Camp runs daily from 8:30 a.m. to noon, with drop-off from 8:15 to 8:30 a.m. and pickup from noon to 12:15 p.m. Students should bring their own guitar. Cost to attend is $125 per student, and space is limited, so early registration is encouraged.

“Music has a unique way of building confidence, encouraging creativity, and giving young people a positive outlet for self-expression,” said Chanel Randolph, Educational Outreach Project Manager at Wiregrass Georgia Technical College. “Whether a student has always wanted to learn guitar or is simply looking to try something new this summer, this camp provides a welcoming environment to build new skills, make new friends, and have fun while learning from instructor Dante Flowers.”

The camp is offered through the college’s Economic Development department, which provides youth camps and continuing education programs throughout the year across South Georgia, ranging from career training and professional certifications to personal enrichment classes.
